Black Joy Parade

UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals is excited to announce its participation in the 8th annual Oakland Black Joy Parade. We invite everyone to join us and proudly represent BCH during the parade portion of the event. The Black Joy Parade exists to provide the Black community and allies a live experience that celebrates the community’s influence on cultures past, present and future. Join us on Sunday, February 23 (Parade begins at 12:30 p.m.) in Downtown Oakland.

Ainka Jackson is executive director of the Selma Center for Nonviolence, Truth and Reconciliation. After her recent engagement with the Obama Democracy Forum, Ms. Jackson is traveling to San Francisco, offering a series of learning sessions at Glide and UCSF.

Webinar: Equipping Families with Legal and Mental Health Resources During Uncertain Times

This training is a collaboration with the Center of Excellence for Immigrant Child Health and Wellbeing at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals and First 5 Alameda County. This training focuses on preparing providers working with immigrant and refugee communities with practical strategies to offer support during times of uncertainty. Participants will explore how Legal Link provides legal referrals and resource support tailored to the unique challenges faced by immigrant families and their service providers. Additionally, Partnerships for Trauma Recovery will share methods for mental health support. Finally, participants will learn strategies to acknowledge and build on the resilience and strengths inherent in immigrant families, fostering empowerment and positive outcomes in their communities.
